How To Add Fresh Content To A Squidoo Lens

One way to overcome this problem, is to add a RSS module from your Blog (if you have one) or any other suitable RSS feed to your lens.
This way you will get fresh content automatically with out you doing anything, as soon as you update your Blog, because it will update your lens at the same time.

This is not hard to do, in fact it can be done in 4 easy steps, and it will only take you a matter of minutes to do.


Step 1 : Access RSS Feed URL.

First you need to get the RSS feed URL, either from your Blog or whichever RSS feed that you want to display, in my case, it was to my Blog, ( how-2b-debtfree.blogspot.com)
Locate the RSS Feed icon, when you press that it will take you to the RSS feed page and give you the correct URL which you will need to add to the lens

Step 2 : Log on to Squidoo Dashboard.

Log on to your Squidoo account and go to your dashboard, while you are on you! r dashboard have a look at moving some of the modules around, especially if a new module looks more interesting. Remember the 10-second rule - you need to hold a visitor's attention for those crucial 10 seconds.

Step 3 : Find RSS Module.

Go to the section with "re-order modules" and add the RSS module to your lens, if the RSS module is not displayed in any of the categories, you can just enter in the words and do a search, you will then be able to see it.

Once this has been ordered you can just drag and drop the module into the correct space on your Lens

Step 4 : Give Your RSS Module a name.

The Module will now be ready to be edited with your own information.
Give your RSS a module a title, like your Blogs name etc

Give your module a subtitle (optional) you can add anything here, have a look what it looks like, you can always go back and edit it again.

Give your module a description (optional) again you can b! e creative, if you don't like what you have entered, just dele! te it la ter on.

Now it is time to enter the RSS feed URL that you got in step 1.

There are a few other options that you can add, play around and see what suits you.

Another great option that you can add to your lens that will give you not only fresh content, but also some extra money, is to add a Clickbank Feed to your Lens

This is also a very simple task,

Step 1 : Go to RSS Feeds Generator.

Go to rssfeedsgenerator.com, there are a few various options like Amazon, eBay etc, look for the Clickbank Feed.

As this is the free version you are limited to two categories only, choose the category that will best suit your lens.

Enter your keywords, Clickbank ID, name and email address and press generate, after you complete all the required fields, you will be taken to the page with the RSS Feed URL.

Step 2 : Add Feed to Lens.

Now all that you have to do is enter the Clickbank Feed URL on to a new Squidoo RSS ! module like before.

Have you ever wished that things could just be easy? Have you ever thought' If I just knew what they were doing I could make an absolute killing'. Well, I'm here to tell you that you can.You can find out everything about your auction competitor and cherry pick what is working best for them and ignore what isn't working so well for them. By doing this you won't be able to help but to increase your overall profits simply because you will only be selling the hottest items.

So let's get started with this free method.You will need to open a spreadsheet like Excel or whatever program came with your computer. Go ahead and name it what ever you want and you will want to put the name of the seller that you are going to be researching at the top of the spreadsheet for your own reference.Next, you are going to name 5 columns.


The first will be 'Item Description' the second one will b! e 'Starting Price' the third one will be 'Ending Price' and the fourth one will be 'Shipping' and the 5th one will be 'Shipping Method'. Now you can add more detail if you want such as if the item sold was at a fixed price or if it was bid on, but you really only need the 5 I've mentioned.Now go to whatever auction site you use and either type in the sellers name or the type of item you are interested in selling.

If you are going to use the sellers name then you want to make sure that the person is a seller with at least 2000 feedback comments and a 98-100% positive feedback rating. If they are missing either of these 2 criteria then you will want to find someone in the same category that has these. This is extremely important. If you are going to use an item to research the niche just make sure that when you find a seller that they also have what is mentioned above.

Next is a whole bunch of copying and pasting.When you find a qualified seller, click on thei! r feedback. In most cases it will show you to the feedback com! ments an d you'll be able to see what the item was and exactly what it sold for. Copy and paste the items as well as the numbers into your spreadsheet in the appropriate columns.

After you do this, then click on the item and see what the shipping cost was and put this into your spreadsheet. Click on the bids and see what the starting bid was and add this to your spreadsheet as well.

NOTE: Some sellers keep their auctions private and you may not see this information. If this is the case simply find another seller.

-Highlight the item that was sold and then copy it into your spreadsheet. The other information like the starting price you can just type in from memory as this will probably be faster for you (it is for me).

TIP: Press down the Alt key and then the Tab key to flip back and forth between the auction site and your spreadsheet. To Copy faster: Press down the Ctrl key and the letter 'C' after you have highlighted what you are copying. To Paste faste! r: Press down the Ctrl key and the letter 'V'. These key commands make everything a lot faster.

If it requires you to calculate shipping do it this way. Type in zip code 33040 (Key West, Florida and make note of that number. Then type in 98357 (Neah Bay, Washington) and make note of that number and put these into your spreadsheet. If the 2 shipping costs are different then just add them to your spreadsheet column like this: 13.95 - 19.00.

These 2 locations are the farthest southeast and the farthest northwest locations in the United States and will give you the exact shipping information you need to know since your competitor has already done this work for you (as long as you're selling the exact same item).Be sure to make note of their shipping method and see if they mail by the United States Post Office or UPS, FedEx etc.....

Now you have the 5 basic things you need to know to compete with your competitor. You will now need to gather a large amount o! f data to see what the trend is and what is selling best for y! our comp etitor. You will want to go through all of the feedback for the last 90 days (no matter how many pages that is) and copy and paste all of the information into your spreadsheet.

I know it is a lot of work because I have done it, but keep in mind that you will only need to do it once and when you get the system down you can do about 50 item listings in about 5-6 minutes.Once you have the items sold information for the last 90 days then you will simply sort your spreadsheet in this order:AlphabeticallySold PriceStart PriceDon't worry about the sorting the shipping cost as this is just information that you need to set up your auction.

You can now look at your spreadsheet and see what is selling best for the competitor, exactly what it sold for, what your starting price should be, and what you should charge for shipping. In short you have everything you need to start selling.

I still remember the day I decided that I wanted to start making money over the Internet. I used to work at a warehouse, and to put it simply, I hated it. As much as I didn't want to admit it, the truth was that I felt I was being underpaid. I put in my best effort to help the company I was working for, only to come to the realization that I really meant nothing to them if I wasn't helping them with their "bottom line." The result - I was "laid off." In other words, fired - but of course, the company I was working for didn't want to admit that for the simple reason they couldn't come up with a good enough reason to fire me. That was it - I was fed up!

That experience alone made me realize that I no longer wanted to work for someone else - I wanted to work for myself! Upon coming to this realization, I then turned to the Internet. I have to admit though, it wasn't easy coming to that decision - and there was a reason too. Ta! ke a wild guess as to what that reason might have been? The answer: Unconventionality. Let me explain a little further as to what I mean about that "concept."


It seems that throughout our life, we're almost brainwashed into thinking that the only way we can make money is by working at a typical 9 to 5 job. You wake up, hop in your car, drive to that "physical building" and start doing the tasks that were given to you by other people. We're used to this kind of environment - this kind of thinking. So in many ways, it almost feels like a "natural" thing to do.

On the other hand, when you look at the Internet and starting your own business using the Internet, your reaction may be a lot different. One of those reasons, at least for me at the beginning, was because it's something new. Your not used to seeing things like this growing up, so deciding to do so was quite nerve-racking. The idea of making money over the Internet was something that was unorthodox. Th! oughts like, "I can't do this, this is impossible" ran through! my head .

Now, because working over the Internet is something that was entirely new to me, and goes completely against the "norm", it would almost seem like those reactions would come naturally. But the fact is, don't think like that! Look at it this way - at one point in time, your typical 9 to 5 job never used to exist. As soon as they did, those too were seen as unorthodox ventures to make money. If you look at it now, it's no big deal. I had people from all around me telling me "this wasn't the way to go" - that I should look for and stick to working at a typical 9 to 5 job. My guess to that was because they simply wanted me to have what they had - for no other reason that it was a "proven" way to make money, albeit maybe not as much as I would have liked.

The fact though is that I don't want what they have - I want to do what I want to do! You see what I'm saying? Take charge of your life! Before I began doing anything online, this was, by far, the biggest hurdle ! to overcome. Coming to the realization that yes, I can do this - and yes, making money over the Internet is a possibility. I'm here to tell you that it is a possibility - but me telling you that isn't enough. You need to go out there and prove it for yourself. I think that "proving it for yourself" is almost a necessary first-step.

If possible, try and find like-minded people that may be interested in taking this venture with you. Of course, if you can't, that's fine too. There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing this alone. In fact, as a result of taking charge, you may actually inspire many people around you. By doing this, you may also have many potential partners for the simple reason that you showed them it can be done. On that note, what are you waiting for? Get out there and start making money! The intention of this article is to give people interested to joining a MLM program like SFI, a fair picture or "both sides of the coin" about what they can expect from similar programs.

Don't get me wrong when I say: do not trust Strong Future International or SFI Marketing Group (a.k.a Six Figure Income). I have my reasons. But you do not need to agree or disagree with my statement, because what I say it is 100% true fact. Let me explain:


My relationship with SFI Marketing Group began almost 5 years ago, hopeful to building a self-sustainable and profitable home based business, on January 24 of 2003. Six months later I saw my first commission check of $16.50. A little more than a year later, in February of 2004, I was still earning a monthly commission check of around $15.00.

Due to a more diligent marketing effort, after March of 2004 my SFI commission! check was gradually increasing up to the point when on July of that year I got a $203.29 payment; effectively covering my IAHBE membership ($29.95) and check ($1.00) fees, so the actual earning was $234.24.

During 2005, 2006 and two months into 2007 payments increased even further up to a point where I was earning around $300 in commissions. Before that time I was achieved a Team Leader status with more than two thousands referral members on my downline.

On January of 2007, SFI owner Mr. Gery Carson unilaterally decided to change the compensation plan of the company. That's when the trouble began. For two consecutive months (February and March of 2007), my commission payment amount drop to around $25, which is not enough to even cover the IAHBE membership fee. So on March of 2007, I decided to cancel my SFI account and forget about the whole SFI/MLM scheme.

Before the new compensation plan became effective, I consiste! ntly kept my Team Leader status and was generating an average ! of 4 new affiliates daily until the day I canceled my account. No to mention that I used to follow up every referral that signed up below me after they achieve Executive Affiliate status and beyond.

They still keep promising residual income:

"income that keeps coming in month after month, year after year, from work you do just once. It's like a royalty; you write a book or record a song and get paid forever on it."

I don't think it is fair that after 5 years doing business with SFI; been able to generated thousands of affiliates, earning almost three hundred each month in commissions; all of the sudden my earning was reduced to a level that was not enough to even pay for the membership fees, just because a change in the compensation plan. It is like starting all over again. The home based business dream felt like a sand castle hit by the waves on the beach.

I'm sure that this change affected many other SFI members, no ju! st me. Even many others admit that were touched by this arbitrary plan change.

My question (which you don't have to answer) is: Where is the "residual income" promise?

Think for a minute that you are a customer and you are shopping at your own online retail store. You want to buy a watch. Excellent price. Excellent watch. Then you start your checkout and the watch has suddenly doubled in price because of the shipping! . We can't call the store manager because we are the owner, and the store manager. This is not a problem but it does require us to think about our online retail store before our customers attempt to shop for bargains.

Small items will take the same route as the larger items when shipping, but the shipping will not affect the large more expensive items total price like it does on the small less expensive items. At least not percentage wise. Large pricier items will have little effect, where as small cheaper items can get blown out of a potential sale. Most retail customers shopping online will buy only single items of a particular item. Large or small. That is why we need to pay special attention to the small less expensive items in our store. Of course, merchandise such as most jewelry and items that have greater value would not suffer the same consequences.

Therefore, we as owners of an online retail store have to figure in the shipping on small items with s! mall prices, as part of the total retail price. If we fail to ! do so, i nstead of making a smaller profit, we may lose a customer for good. The later is disaster for an online retail business. That customer may unknowingly perceive that this the norm for shopping with us. We don't want to lose a sale at the checkout no matter how small because of not compensating for shipping. We all know that shipping is part of shopping online, but we want the customer to feel that going to the computer instead of the car was a good decision.

Use the suggestion above when pricing the merchandise in your online retail store. Keep your prices fresh, and not rigid. Remember that shipping has to be thought about when setting retail prices. Especially small items with a small retail price. That can be the difference between a small sale and a lost customer. A lost customer is one that is unlikely to return. And we want our customers to return. They may be shopping while we are napping.
