Is a paid directory of paid survey companies worth the money?

Is A Paid Directory Of Paid Survey Companies Worth The Money?

I started taking paid online surveys about 3 years ago (around the end of 1994).

Hoping to get a quick and good start, I decided to pay a list/directory of paid survey companies, so I didn't have to spend time looking and searching myself. After reading numerous reviews I finally chose and paid SurveyScout a $34.95 membership fee to gain access of their directory of paid survey sites.

Some people say SurveyScout is a scam - To be fair, I can't agree. After all, SurveyScout makes it clear that they are just selling a list of paid survey sites, and they themselves, is NOT a paid survey site, a site actually sends out surveys and pays members to take surveys.

However, SurveyScout is absolutely a waste of money and NOT worth it! Here is why:

Following SurveyScout's recommendations, I signed up with the top 15 surveys sites on their list first. Guess what, trouble immediately followed ! - I started to receive tons of spam emails, and even telemarketing calls. I had to delete hundreds of spam emails everyday and I realized something was wrong. I knew the problems were the surveys sites I joined, so I went back to each survey site I signed up with, carefully reviewed their information, especially their privacy policies, and I found out the answer to those spam. Among the 15 survey sites I signed up with, 4 -5 of them have very "open" privacy policies - meaning I would agree to receive marketing offers from third parties.... Apparently these "open" survey sites must have shared or maybe even sold my personal information. I immediately canceled/unsubscribed from those SPAM/SCAM sites, and the spam stopped.

After that, I went through SurveyScout's list, did my own research on each and every paid survey site on the list, and only joined the ones that I believe are real legitimate paid survey companies. It was a very time consuming process, which SurveySco! ut was paid for, but I knew I had to do it.

Honestly I ! was angr y and frustrated - I couldn't believe SurveyScout provided me such a "good opportunity" to get spammed. I requested a refund from SurveyScout and told them why I would cancel my membership with them, and I got my money back.

I am not sure if SurveyScout did any research on each survey site on their list, but one thing for sure is, they were promoting anything they can find, just for commission, no matter what!

My experience just shows that, compare to free directories of paid survey sites, a paid directory is not necessarily better and often not worth the money. Over the years, I have found many great paid survey sites on my own, and with some effort, you should too.
