Well I have several sites, some of them I apply the AdSense to; to make a few extra pennies and some of my websites I wouldn't even dream of placing Adsense to.

For example, I will not use AdSense on a site that I wish to sell one product on, especially my own products. This can take your potential prospects away from what you want them to buy. Why would you risk losing them to your competition or to another site for a few lousy cents? Or dollars if you got the "higher" end priced AdSense ads on your site.

All sites where I am selling a specific product will not have any outgoing links for me. I want to keep them on my site for as long as possible.

However, I will use AdSense on sites that are more along the lines of "Free Content" websites. Usually these websites I set up, I use directly for making money with AdSense.

What's interesting with AdSense is that your layout can have a detrimental effect on h! ow much you can earn from using it. Of course testing and re-testing will be your ultimate tool in finding out what works best with your website.

I tend to stay clear of the lay out that looks like Google's sponsored ads on the main Google website. Everyone identifies these ads as "paid" and not as likely to have as many people to click through them.

Financial success through network marketing by building a long term sustainable residual income is created by attracting people to your network that purchase products every month. It's the glue that holds our business together. Remember, many people ordering a little each month can mean a nice residual income at the end of the month or in our case, at the end of each week. A solid long term residual income is created when we attract quality people to a solid home based business. The foundation of any solid company ! will have a good track record of people succeeding regularly and will retain customers based on the product's benefits and value. Poor programs can create a treadmill effect of recruit one/lose one which makes it very difficult to grow over the long term and develop a residual income. Poor programs cannot demonstrate solid growth over a long period of time in their main market making international expansion or new markets the only means of increasing sales. This eventually will stagnate as well and the treadmill must keep going to maintain sales and thus residual incomes.

A reasonable yearly growth rate in sales in the main market place is proof that the company is well run and that the products are popular with people. Part of the solution is to have a good coach that will share all the information and guide you through the process step by step and advise you what it really takes to win your freedom.

Many experienced Networkers understand this concept and analyze all the new start-up companies with the hope of getting involved near the beginning and being part of the new companies momentum phase to building a large home based business and another residual income. Compani! es come and go all the time so it becomes a gambling process and your residual income looks more like a roller coaster, but it doesn't have to be that way. Some compensation plans are weighted in favor of the knowledgeable veteran and their strong contact list of other experienced Networkers, so all in all, it can be a risky decision to invest your time in another home based business opportunity. If a company requires more than a $200-$300.00 start up cost or a minimum monthly participation level over $75.00-$100.00 or so that a newcomer or less experienced person is best to ask a lot of questions and be absolutely sure before investing so much of their time and energy into the program. Some companies have a minimum requirement in order to receive compensation of $150-$200.00 per month that only forces people out the door as quickly as they come in. This may work in the original veteran's favor as they get paid deep into their organization but Newcomers are the ones footing! the bill. You just need to ensure you are doing your due dili! gence be fore starting a home based business. For example, today I was sharing with a business partner some information about various tools that he could utilize to build his home business and develop a residual income because he's knowledgeable with technology. While talking with him, I explained to him what it will truly take for him to be ultimately successful in our home based business. The more important question I asked him was, at what level was he willing to play the game? You see it's the consistency over the long term that I am looking for in people and they need to understand this from the outset.

So if you are a newcomer it is very wise to truly investigate the growth rates and other newcomer's success rates before getting involved in any home business. Ask to see newsletters etc that show the stories of people just like yourself that have built a comfortable residual income. If the home based business opportunity is solid they will have many such stories to share! .

Every business needs products or services to sell and without these you DO NOT have a business. Makes sense, right?

If you are thinking of starting an online business you need to decide whether you want to sell your own products or whether you want to do as I do and sell other peoples' for commissions.

I have been making a full-time income from home as an Affiliate Marketer since 2004. I sell other people products and services.

If you are new to online marketing you may not believe it is possible to sell without one's own products. I was convinced when the company checks started rolling in.

Let us first look at some ideas for creating your own product.

Discovering what people need and want is tantamount to finding a lucrative market for your work at home business. There are three things you should look for in determining the profitability of a particular market:

1. How great! is the demand? 2. How scarce is the supply? Or restated, how much competition will you encounter? 3. Will you be able to provide for this demand?

If the answer to all the three considerations above are favorable, then you have for yourself a good market that your online home business can cater to.

Of course, there are some tricks and tactics that you could use to find ideal markets. Here are some of them:

* Go to www.inventory.overture.com or www.nichebot.com and type in the type of business you wish to pursue. The results will show how many searches were made, direct or related, for that particular subject over the past few weeks.

* Make a search for the same business type in any of the search engines. These results will show how abundant or scarce your competition will be.

* From time to time, there are special reports that are published which enumerate hot niches waiting to be exploited. Niches, of course, are highly specialized market! s that most businesses tend to overlook.

Once you find ! a market , it's time to come up with a product. Information products, i.e. E-books, are the most ideal for your online home business. They can be digitally delivered, and they don't require physical space for stocking.

There are four popular ways by which you could come up with an information product for your online home business:

* You could create these products yourself. Maybe you are an expert in a certain area? Could you write a special report? Don't forget to check out if there is a demand for the info as outlined above.

* You could hire someone to create them for you. Elance.com is a favorite for online marketers to have products created and I have used them on quite a few occasions myself.

* You could use existing products that have been created by others, through the purchase of their resale rights.

Then there is Affiliate Marketing.....

You can join affiliate ! programs in 1000s of different markets in almost any topic imaginable and choose to pre-sell any of the products they have to offer. As mentioned above this is my preferred method.

When choosing affiliate products you want something of quality which also offers high commissions. Most quality affiliate programs will also offer tools in the form of graphics and pre-written ad copy to help you make your money.

Some affiliate programs will offer 75% commission to you for selling their service online. I would be looking for at least 50%, especially for low priced products like e-books.

For high priced items, marketing seminars, marketing course etc. I would expect 30-50%.

The benefits of selling affiliate products are that you don't have to worry about payment processors nor product support, which can be a nightmare.

Selling affiliate products frees up a lot of my time. The way I see it, there is no point working at home unless it allows me mor! e freedom to do the things I like to do.

Whether you ch! oose you r own product or to go the affiliate route there is a lot of money to be made, IF you do the right things.

Home Based Business Struggle: How I Was Saved By The System
This true story recounts the unhappy situation I was in about six months ago... See if it's similar in some ways to what you're currently experiencing with your home based business opportunity (my bet is the majority of you reading this will relate...)

I was involved with a top-notch, first class company. The two owners and co-founders were the cr? de la cr? of accomplished entrepreneurs and astute businesspeople. The products I was marketing were unique, high-demand, stand-alone products. My upline was the most knowledgeable and most supportive a sponsor can be. The compensation plan was very generous, and easy to understand and explain. The company's business overview website was awesome. Sounds like I had it all, doesn't it?

I was generating my own leads (about 70 to 80 a week) through my own website. I was creating traffic for that site via pay-per-click, article marketing, and a few other wa! ys that included safelists, classified ads, and other online advertising. No purchased (crappy) leads for me, thank you very much!

Well, when you look at this picture, you think I must have been raking it in, don't you? Heck no. I was actually shelling it out. I was spending more money on marketing than I was earning through sales and residual income. That's probably a unique situation that nobody else reading this has ever experienced. Right? (LOL) (;-)

So what was wrong? Well, it's a well-known fact that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Want to know what the weak link was? I'll tell you because I have nothing to hide: I (me, me, me) was the weak link. But how come? I had all the elements in place, plus a lot of Network Marketing experience (having been involved with a few companies off and on since 1993), and a very, very strong desire to succeed with my home business).

Now, I was not broke, or needy. If you read our story on the .biz si! te referenced in the Resource Box, you'll see that we had othe! r source s of income and we were doing pretty well. But I wanted, absolutely wanted, to conquer this home based business monster once and for all, and take in 20, 30, 40 thousand dollars each month like my sponsor and many others in the team were doing.

Here was the problem: I did not like calling those 70 to 80 leads to explain me, explain the concept (of Network Marketing and Direct Sales), explain the company, the product, the compensation plan. Ok, let me level with you here: "did not like" is not accurate: I HATED it!

And what happens when you hate doing something? Maybe like mowing the lawn, detailing the car, cleaning the house, doing your income tax, visiting your in-laws? Well, you procrastinate as long as you can, you do as little of it as you can, and you don't do it with heart and enthusiasm. And as a result, you don't do it well.

THAT was the problem: I was not doing it (prospecting) well. I was taking too long to call people, I was giving WAY too mu! ch information, I was not pushy enough, I was not doing the three-way calls because that meant... making another phone call.

Because of that sub-par performance, I was signing up very few new associates. But I persisted to the best of my (in)abilities. Three months ago however, I was ready to throw in the towel. I was thinking of giving up, not only on my business opportunity, but on MLM, Network Marketing and Direct Sales as a whole.

Then, a miracle happened. And I was saved.

Here's what happened. One of the top earners of the company realized that there were probably hundreds, perhaps thousands of people in his organization who were struggling just as I was. He decided to come up with a solution to the problem and the result was that he designed a Marketing System. This system eliminated all of the "variables", dramatically reduced learning curves, eliminated guess-work and increased results for everyone. The chances for success went waaaaayyy up!
!
It actually took him over four years of trials-and-errors ! and over $400,000 to perfect the System, but from what we can see now, it was really worth it. What's that? Oh, you want to know what is so special about that Marketing System that turned my home based business (and my life) around. Ok, I'll tell you.

The System does 95% of the work FOR me, 24/7. The ONLY thing I do is generate leads for the high-conversion website supplied by the System. That (generating traffic) is not a problem for me (never was). However, the System does offer turnkey solutions to generate leads so I wouldn't even have to do that if I didn't want to.

The other great feature is that the Capture Pages on the System's website convert a large number of visitors into leads (about double what I was converting before with my own website). And then (this is my favorite part) highly trained professionals call MY leads for ME in a timely fashion, and turn a great number of them into prospects. That's a pretty good start wouldn't you say?

Well that's n! ot all. Not even close. Those professionals will also follow up with MY prospects by phone and by autoresponders, getting a sizable number of them to join MY business. And every time this happens (more than once a week over the last three months as opposed to once a month before I started to use the System), my PayPal account goes ka-ching!

But there's more! After they "close" MY prospects for me, they train them to join the System and duplicate my "efforts" (LOL) so the new recruits can enjoy their life while the pros are doing the nastiest part of the work FOR them. As a result, the newbies have added many new people to my team, and every time that happens, my PayPal account goes ka-ching!

The System's secret (if you want to call it that) is that it eliminates most of the interactions (like selling, telling, explaining and closing) between the marketer and the customer until AFTER the sale is made and the money is deposited into the marketer's bank account! ! Doing that eliminates the individual marketer's sales and mark! eting ab ilities and skills (or lack of) as variables for their success. By essentially removing the new marketer from the equation, one can focus on building the business while "outsourcing" the most difficult sales and marketing aspects to the pros running the System.

And because of that, many new marketers with little or no experience in this industry are NOW finally seeing results. Many people who have NEVER achieved success in this industry, are now making money. Many in their first month!

So now, life is beautiful, every day. I've stopped struggling in home business hell, and I'm now having fun and making mucho dinero in home business heaven. And yet, I'm still in the same industry, with the same company and marketing plan, marketing the same product, under the same sponsor. But the Marketing System I use is different (like day and night).

If you're experiencing the aforementioned struggles, cheer up. You see, there are two diametrically-opposed solutions to overcoming the challenges mentioned above; I call them the "stupid" and the "stupendous". The stupid solution looks like this: work harder, spend more money on marketing and training tools, buy more MLM leads, attend more meetings, think more positive thoughts, make more calls, read more self-help books. Does this sound familiar? I call it the stupid solution because following those recommendations will only lead you to more frustration (what I experienced), more wasted time and energy (ditto), and to getting you deeper in the hole, fast.

So what's the stupendous solution? It's really quite simple. Find an easier path. Am I suggesting that you stop searching for a legitimate, profitable work at home business ! opportunity and start looking for something else entirely? Of ! course n ot. Home based income opportunities have great potential (the legitimate ones anyway). You just have to find one that offers a Marketing System that actually works.

Just find a SYSTEM that helps YOU help a lot of people get as much of what they want as fast as possible, and apply leverage. The more effectively you can do this, the more money you will make. It's really that simple. You can make tidal waves of cash if you get this right. I know because I'm doing that (tidal waves of cash). And I can tell you that it feels REALLY good to FINALLY taste success.

1. Accept the FACT that having a Marketing System that actually works is KEY to succeeding with a home business

Honestly, why wouldn't everyone stage their house with those sorts of numbers and that kind of turn around? I can only imagine what his house might have sold for if he'd had the benefit of a Home Stager's advice when he first went on the market in the spring.

To have an online home business is a dream of thousands of people. I had the same dream myself. And like most of the people who are interested in starting their own online business, I did not know how to get started. But I quickly learned a few things and now have a very successful Internet based business. If you are considering a change in careers or if you are like I was, just looking for information on how to start an Internet business, there are a couple of things you should definitely consider.

Now, despite what you have heard, there is no get-rich-quick business of any kind -- Internet or otherwise. All businesses require work, persistence and time to be dedicated towards the development of the business. With that out of the way, let's get to it!

One of the first things that interested me in having a business online was that it could exist in the virtual world. I did not want to have to rent or lease offi! ce space which can eat into profits very rapidly. Employees, medical insurance, worker's compensation insurance and all the other trappings of traditional business I could do without.

I did initially considered selling things directly myself online but I also knew that I didn't want to have to carry a significant amount of inventory. I was willing to commit some space in my home for a small amount of items for sale, but certainly I didn't and couldn't commit the spare bedroom or the garage. Selling thousands of products out of my house didn't seem like the right business model for me. So, I did my research and found that working in an affiliate type of program would work for me the ideal solution.

What I found was that some affiliate programs provide everything you need - like a business in a box to borrow a clich?I don't like using that phrase because it conjures up thoughts of a scam, but it is probably the most accurate phrase to describe a complete packag! e. Here are some highlights of what I found.

· The pare! nt compa ny was providing thousands of name brand products that were highly desirable in the worldwide market place.

· I did not need to inventory any products unless I wanted to service the customer myself, otherwise, everything is being drop shipped directly to the customer.

· Multiple forms of payment processing and collection is done by the parent company. I did not need to worry about setting up a merchant account, which can be very expensive.

· A professional web site was provided for me to use. It was complete with high quality graphics, product information and online sales brochures for customers to research the products they were interested in.

· All I had to do was pay a small start up fee of under $200 and I was in business for myself on the Internet working with name brand products, not trying to pass off trinkets from some third world country.

If you have also researched into affiliate programs, you know that they are not all cut from t! he same cloth. I highly recommend looking into programs that are complete to the point where you don't have to set up a web site, find a graphics person, inventory products and you can have high quality name brand products drop shipped directly to your customer and not even have to collect the money plus get paid on every product sold.

There are many opportunities on the internet that do not require you to make a major investment. Some none at all. Most legitimate work at home businesses want you to succeed because your success is an investment in their own success. They know that your long term sustainment is to their benefit as well as yours.

Some work at home business opportunities still think that the louder they scream the more credibility they will appear to have. A row of exclamation points after every sentence tells me one of two things. I am either lying or frustrated. Probably the latter. I laugh when I see this because I can feel the beads of sweat coming through my computer.

You can take an ease in approach with whatever work at home business you choose if you take a rational approach. Find business opportunities that have earthly addre! sses and are not just left to guess where or if they exist. Because they may not, at least with any legitimacy.

When you look for a work at home business, you need not be afraid to take that first step. Do remember though that greed and flattery do not mix. If you think "work at home business" and not greed, flattery cannot bite you. It is just that simple. I love flattery but it should be free or very cheap.

The most valuable lesson that I have learned about working at home is that small steps can take you many miles. Mistakes are part of growth but they do not have to be costly. At least not for the little guy just starting out. Consistency and persistence are by far the most valuable asset that you already possess. Because these are your business tools. The best you will ever have. If you remember this no matter what level you are at, you can build a successful business. To any level you choose.

I have always heard from the "financial gurus" that reducing expenses seems like the easiest solution. But is it really the "best" way for me or for you? Ok, so let's eliminate those fun work lunches out, cut back on our ! beloved Starbucks latte treat, cancel the cable...good bye (ESPN Sports Center or romantic comedies & Matthew McConaughey), and tell your kids "sorry, we can't buy that cool toy. Mommy and Daddy don't have any money. But wait -- is this really improving my lifestyle or am I taking away the things I enjoy most? Sure the "lifestyle" number at the end of the equation finally turns positive, but at what cost?

Sometimes I felt like throwing the book at these financial gurus that keep telling you to eliminate all the pleasures of life. Every sentence starts with the words cut this and eliminate that. If I cut and eliminated everything they recommended, I would be living in a cave, growing my own food, sewing my own clothes -- well you get the idea.

Hey guess what! Everyone with a large positive lifestyle number on the right side of the equation enjoys life to the fullest. They don't cut back on the things they love. What they do is increase their income -- the ! other component in the equation! Don't cringe if you are alrea! dy worki ng overtime or you feel like you don't have enough hours in a day to dedicate toward your loved ones -- just keep reading.

When I narrow it down, there are four main ways to increase your income if you are pretty much tapped out at your job. First, you can try getting more overtime, but with the economy slowing down most companies will not approve overtime or worse yet, you are exempt from overtime which means it doesn't matter how many extra hours you work, you get paid the same. When you are on salary, somehow you always get picked for that special, time-consuming project -- don't you just hate that. Well, that was exactly where I was at.

Next, you can get a second job. There are two problems with a second job. They are basically part-time so the pay is very low. Also, talk about not having any time for your family and you still need to sleep and eat. A second job will not only sap your time, but also your energy to give.

Third, you can make more mone! y by investing. Unfortunately, this is tough to do given our current investment climate. It either takes more money and who has an extra $10,000 or so lying around the house or your need to improve your return. Since the market is yo-yoing up and down who really knows how to win at the investment game. Have you ever lost money on an investment? I certainly have. Ask any seasoned investor, it's very tough to make enough money investing to where you can comfortable extract money to expand your lifestyle.

The last vehicle to generate more money is to own your own business. Hold on -- that's a pretty scary thought. Yes, it's true that many believe starting your own business requires money ("Big Bucks"), time (the one thing I don't have), knowledge (I don't know any sales tips), and risk (I'm already tapped out. I can't risk anymore).

But not all businesses require a large amount of capital or a lot of time to be dedicated. I have found that a home-based online bu! siness can solve the problem of not enough money to last out t! he month . Find yourself a top notch home-based online business and turn your lifestyle positive!

Most paid survey websites convince stay at home moms that they can earn big money by taking these surveys so the membership fee will get paid off immediately. The truth is no one is making a living off a paid survey and it is extremely hard to even make pocket change. The awards, if any, are usually in the form of coupons or your name will be entered in drawing where you could possibility win 500 dollars.

Yes, you can find a legit paid survey out in cyberspace somewhere, but it is usually overshadowed by the schemers. At least now you know the difference, however do not go out and buy a luxurious car yet.

Well, what I have found is many people like to join 2-3 programs, work them for a while. You can then later focus on the ones that you enjoy the most. The costs are minimal and you will enjoy your work at home lifestyle to the fullest extent. A hot topic amongst my network marketing team is what I have come to call the 'Keys to Success'. We all want to know how to get the best results from our business and profit from implementing these practices. This two part article series is designed to share with you the most important keys to success you should possess as a network marketing business owner and entrepreneur.

Let me start by saying what I believe is the biggest error made by network marketers; it is that they don't treat this opportunity as a real business. They convince themselves (or unfortunately have been convinced) that it is easy to make money in network marketing. The fact that you're reading this article suggests that you are not this type of person, so let's get into the real keys to success.

Decide you want to commit to a second job. Most of us start our MLM / network marking business as a way to bring in a second! income. This means that you may still be working a full time job whilst growing your MLM business after hours. For some people this is one of the first major obstacles they must face as a small business entrepreneur. If you or your prospect can't commit to the hours required to establish this business, then I suggest that this is not the business opportunity you should be pursuing.

Set realistic business goals for the year ahead. Plan out your personal and business goals for the next 12 months. The start of the year is great time to sit down and conduct a goal setting workshop. Aim high and set monthly milestones that you need to achieve every month to ensure success by this time next year.

Be a people person. You are going into a business that requires you to 'network' with many people. If you are not naturally comfortable with this I recommend you seriously reconsider your business options. Don't be fooled by people who say that you can generate all the! leads you can handle through online advertising. You need to ! get out and talk to as many 'hot prospects' as possible.

Live and love your product. Research and find a product and company that you genuinely believe in. I recommend going with a product that people like you actually need and use on a regular basis.

Allocate a set number of hours each week to work 'on' your business. Do this as part of your goal setting. Ask yourself how many hours realistically you can spend on your business each week. Now plan your working work so you can be effective in your full time job (if you have one) and also maintain a committed focus on your own business. I also like to plan one full day off each week to maintain an effective work / life balance.

Embark on further training. All the best network marketers have spent considerable time and effort learning and improving themselves and their business knowledge. MLM training is a key ingredient to success in this industry.

This is not a message of getting rich from your kitchen table even though there are literally thousands of businesses a person can get into and operate from home. If you are thinking self employment and working from your home, then you need to know the difference between a home based business and a work at home business. In a Home Based Business, the home is the base for booking, bookkeeping and equipment while the work is preformed away from home. In this scenario, people call in and place work orders and the technicians respond. An example of home based businesses are: carpet cleaners, carpet layers, painters, plumbers, yard services and so on. These services go from their homes each day, preform a service and return home at days end. Their bookkeeping is kept, usually in one designated room of the house where it can be credited for IRS purposes.

A work at home business is different in the since that the work itse! lf is preformed at home. Many times the business person travel from the home to acquire supplies and returns them back for manufacturing of sorts. This type of business range from sewing to mixing non toxic, non volatile chemicals. I includes Furniture repair and refurbishing, upholstering, picture frames, raising dog kennel. Auto detailing, small engine repair and so on.

On the one hand the work is preformed away from the home, Home Based and the other instance the work is preformed in the home.

Here Comes The Good Old IRS
The IRS will allow you to designate a portion of the home for tax write off. Is is better, if possible to have a free standing building detach from the home because you can write off all its expenses. If you have a detached garage or tool stead use them for your business office or workroom. Have a telephone installed, that shows you are permanent. If you are in a neighborhood, do not put up sighs most cities do not allow it.
Most service business do not require customers to come to th! eir plac e of business anyway. All business transactions are done by telephone. Advertise your telephone number not your address. Even if you are giving you customers 30 days to pay, give them a box number to respond to. Mail boxes can be rented from the US Postal, Mail Boxes or US, The UPS stores and other places as well.

In the house or not?
Ideally, You can operate from a garage located on the lot next to your home. This way your home has one address and the business has another. I did this for years, it worked out great. The second lot was zoned commercial so I could have large trucks deliver without problems. UPS also made daily pickups for must less charge because of the commercial address.

As it worked out the rent and expenses on the office was almost as much as the house payment, that worked very well with the IRS. Be warned though, the office had its own address and was used only for business and as so, could be written off as a tax liability.

Spec! ialty Chemicals, easy to make easy to sell.
We produced carpet cleaning chemicals. A commercial mixer would mix the product to our specifications, put it in fifty five gallon drums and deliver it to us. I build a loading dock at one side of the building and ran pipe out to the drums. The material was pumped into tank in a small room at the back of the office and a surfactant was added (the secret ingredient) and then bottled and boxed. One box of product was nine bottles which made forty five gallons of ready-to-us material. The package weighed ten pounds, easy to handle and cost little to ship. I made my own box labels but had the bottles screened printed and shipped to me.

The product was a one of a kind product that deep cleaned by using static attraction. It saved the customer many hours of labor and restored their carpet in the process. One of the most active customers was hospitals. At one time I was shipping to hospitals in every state and of every size. !
But this is only one business you can run from your home. ! There's one big problem. If your not self motivated, forget it and go get a job. You absolutely have to treat it as any other job. You have get up and be in the office at the same time every day. Your customers expect it of you and if you want to keep them you will do it.

Better be a Jack of all Trades.
It's up to you to make the sales calls, send letters, mix and bottle the product, ship it, bill the customer, do collections, and keep the IRS happy. You have to know the local rules for businesses, pay your local and state taxes, keep up on Environmental Protection laws, find the best shipper, and know everything there is to know about the product and its application.

You are the chief cook and bottle washer, and don't forget it. You fool around and don't pay attention, the business suffers. It will only do for you what you do for it. Think you can run off and play golf, forget it, there's always something else that needs to be done. The only glory in being a sma! ll business owner is, it's yours, kind of like being married - except you get to set the rules. You do the planing in how much you will make and you will get a big dose of the free enterprise system, from the inside out. Make no mistake about it, it is not easy. No matter what the Government says, they don't want you to be in business for yourself. They want you to draw a regular paycheck where they can take their cut without hassle. They don't like doing audits and messing around with your few thousand dollars when they can go after much bigger pickings.

Even Your bank won't believe you.
Another little tidbit, when you are self employed, people think you are unemployed. If you want to get a loan for a car or house, get ready to show everything you have done from day one and beyond. You have to keep good records, or have a CPA do it for you. I went to buy a house, the lender wouldn't believe my IRS filings, I had to go to a CPA for verification. All in all I wou! ldn't have had it any other way. I'm too dang hard headed to w! ork for someone and can't stand working with someone. So you make up your mind, working from home is and experience like no other.

Is it worth it? Well, I have to say yes, for the strong willed and no for the follower who is comfortable working for retirement.

Many people search the major search engines daily looking to join an Online Paid Survey company. Why? Well most are looking to create some fast cash and have heard this is a great way to do so. Many others will start working at home doing task such as data entry, rebate processing or one of the many other work from home opportunities.

What I have found in my experience is that matching up a persons skill sets with the paid survey program is important. My wife actually loves doing them, because it enables her to express her opinion on a variety of topics. Believe me, she enjoys expressing herself. She will often take surveys that don't even pay her simply because it's on a topic she feels strongly about. She takes surveys when she wants to now, which is about every other day. Most of them are paid surveys.

My point on this is that it is very important to join a work at home program, if that is your desire, that fits your comfort! level, skill sets and income goals. If you don't like taking surveys like me, than you are not going to be happy clicking on multiple-choice questions and hitting the next button. Don't get me wrong they pay you, but I'm just too impatient for that. That would not be a good program for me no matter how much it pays. What is not good for me might well be a great match up for someone else. Often time's people will join the programs that offer to pay them the most for the least amount of effort. Once they figure out that they don't enjoy the task required they will get discouraged and quit. Some will call the program a scam when really it was their choice of programs. Don't get me wrong you have to do your research, because there are scam artist out there looking to take advantage of you. I suggest using a website like mine, but not necessarily mine, that has done some research for you or be prepared to do the research yourself. It is very important.

You will find when! doing that research, if paid surveys is a good fit for you, t! hat you could either join what I call a paid surveys directory or attempt to learn on your own and join a bunch of companies yourself for free. I believe the paid surveys directory is the best way. I can tell you from my wife's experience that they offer you step-by-step guidance, list of programs that pay either cash or entries into sweepstakes etc. The good news is when using one of them you get to choose which ones before you take any surveys. They also filter out what they believe to be the scam artist or paid survey companies that will waste your time.

You can be successful either way, but to me it's worth the few dollars to take an organized approach using a paid surveys directory. Time is money and I know it saved her a bunch of time. What a pain it would have been if she had to figure it out herself. I just had a horrible thought, because I know it would have been me doing it. Ugh! It's in my personality to be efficient with my time so I can tell you I would have hate! d that approach. In fact I would have paid 10 times as much to do it the way we did. You can spend more money going out to dinner one night than it takes to join one of the survey directory companies. Many of the ones I use from my research even offer money back guarantees.

There are many men and women who love taking surveys and indeed are having great success. What do you need to do if you think you are one of them? Here are my suggestions:

1. Make sure you meet the profile I presented above.
2. Either do the research or use a website to choose your programs.
3. Narrow down the choices to 2-3 programs.
4. Join the program or programs you would like to try.
5. Join, start taking surveys and working from home.

It's as simple as that. Why not give yourself a chance. You choose when you work, where you work from and how long you work. Of course, like anything in life you get out of it what you put in. These can take many forms depending on the type of business you may be in, but all are crucial to generating more sales and freeing up your time to focus on the critical components of running your business that require your personal attention or presence.

A lead generation process may seem like a "duh" component in network marketing, but I'm not talking about dialing random numbers from a phone book. You need a process that sorts and qualifies your leads so you don't end up wasting your time on uninterested prospects or the myriad tire-kickers surfing random opportunities looking for that "no work, get rich quick scheme."! Don't even bother with either of these types of people. You w! ant to f ocus on the few prospects who are serious about your business opportunity and qualified to run a business.

The email auto-responder is a must-have for anyone running a business online. If you don't have one of these in place you're wasting your time even generating leads in the first place. Research shows that it can take an average of five to seven contacts before a prospect feels comfortable enough to open their wallets. If you aren't contacting your leads through an auto-responder you are missing out on at least 20 percent of your potential income. That is the 20 percent difference between you staying in business and being driven into the red by lead generation expenses.

Your business should also include a closing system that closes sales for you 24/7 without your direct involvement. This can be accomplished in many different ways. An online merchant account is usually the best choice for handling sales by credit card.

The next element that must be ! in place is a product or service that is in demand. It is much easier to find a product to sell to a ready market than to find a market to sell your product to. Find a group of people who have a pressing need or problem and then fill that need, fix their problem. You will have prospects throwing their money at you if you simply offer a solution to the problems they are facing. Don't bother trying to convince the masses that your product is the best and that everyone needs your product, they just don't know it yet. You will never make a profit until you offer a product or service which provides the solution to the burning need of the market.

Make certain that the market you choose is also able to afford the solution you offer. You will not gain anything by offering a solution to a market with a burning need if the market cannot afford your solution. You will simply attract tire kickers and individuals looking for a hand-out.

You must also have a high quality p! roduct to offer. A good product builds a reputation for itself! and cre ates repeat customers for those who market it. People will come back to you again and again if they know you will offer them high quality solutions. And you will find that they are happy to pay good money for top-end offers. Do not short change your business or hurt your reputation by offering an inferior product at a ridiculous price. No matter how great the compensation plan it can never cover the expense of offering a cheap, useless product. Only offer the best-the right people will be pleased to pay for quality.

The next component to be covered is perhaps the number one factor that causes 80-90% of all small business start-ups to shut down in the first few years. This key component will likely make or break your online network marketing business this coming year. The method I am going to describe is called email marketing. Email marketing has several advantages. Firstly, it is non intrusiv! e as compared to cold calling. You do not have control over the people you are calling. Who knows? They may be busy when you called them.

People usually check email in their free time. Therefore, they are more likely to be in a receiving mood.

Secondly, you probably won't get a chance to call them again if you fail to convince them. Email marketing is different. You have a lot of time to contact them as long as they stay on your list. Obviously, you want to send them valuable information. Information that will benefit your subscribers.

Whichever category you belong to, I am going to show you an alternative method of communicating with your leads by answering several questions.

1) I have tried cold calling thousands of leads, but I didn't have much success, why?

I understand your frustration. From what I know, cold calling is usually not very effective for several reasons.

Firstly, the leads that you have obtained may not be the people that you are looking for. Most probably, you have bought these leads from lead generating companies. However, they are not targeted leads. They may be double opt-in leads, but they did not opt-in to receive message from you specifically. This can explain why th! ese people do not welcome you.

Secondly, most people are not proficient in cold calling leads anyway. In fact, I believed that you must have hated cold calling. This accounts for the high failure rate. Well, you are not alone. I hate cold calling too!

2) If cold calling doesn't work, what method should I use?

Instead of buying leads from companies, why not generate your own leads. Yes, you may be able to instantly get thousands of leads from a company, but there is no point having so many leads when these people are not going to listen to you.

However, if people specifically sign up for your list, it means they have given you permission to contact them. It is definitely easier to communicate with people who are ready to listen to you.

3) How do I generate my own leads?

You can make use of the internet.

Why?

People use the internet to search for information. In this example, there may be people who are looking for op! portunities to make more money.

So what do they do?
Th ey will usually go to the search engine and type in phrases like "work from home mlm", "how to make more money" etc. You can easily find out what terms people are searching for by using keyword research tools like wordtracker.

When you know what keywords people are searching for, you can easily position yourself in front of your prospects. All you need is a lead capture page with an autoresponder. Then, you can attract these prospects to our lead capture page by setting up a Google Adword Campaign or through other traffic generation strategy such as article marketing.

Once you gather your prospects' email addresses, you will be able to contact them regularly. These prospects are targeted because they are already searching for opportunities to make money and they will be more receptive to you. This means your success rate will be much higher.

And if you do get something for nothing in life, life has a way of balancing itself out. This is just a fact. Look at lotto winners or anyone else who has not earned what they have in life. Paris Hilton and these other spoiled brats are a perfect example of life b! alancing itself out. It always happens, regardless of who you are or where you come from. Something for nothing does not exist and it does happen you end losing what you have.

Now you can make a lot and I mean a lot of money with a home business. Which is why even Donald Trump endorses it. But you will have to put in the time and effort. There is nothing for free in this life. You must be passionate and really want it in order to succeed.

And this does not just go for business it also goes for anything in life. There will be ups and downs, people will mock you and try to kick you when you are down. It just comes with the territory when you go after what you want in life. But once you make it those same people will be the ones kissing your butt. True this does not pertain to business but the moral of the story does.

When I was in high school I was on the football team. My junior year we went 0 and 10. We lost every game that year. We were the laughing st! ock of the town. It was really bad. But we did not tuck our ta! ils betw een our legs and hide. No we worked harder than ever before.

The week after the season ended we started training. We trained for the whole year and for that whole year we were criticized and laughed at by everyone. But we just kept on working and training. When the football season came around the following year, we won the whole thing. We won the championship. Needless to say everyone who put us down had joined the band wagon and was now kissing our behinds.

Now this is what being in business is like. People will think your crazy and say terrible things. But once you make it they are all your friends. This is just the way business goes, especially when you are first starting out. There will be ups and downs.

And if you are looking for the easy path or something for nothing, I will tell you now you will not make it. You must have the right mindset and you must understand there will be highs and there will be lows. If you think it will be a cake walk then ! you should just keep your day job because you are just wasting your time.

And looking for a free home based business is the wrong mentality to have when looking to build a business.

He just had more time on his hands with no money to enjoy it better. Today a man can hope to live to perhaps eighty years of age. Most people here officially retire at sixty and actually stop worki! ng around fifty five to fifty seven. That means a longer retirement with even less money to spend.What needs to be done is to re-define work and income. In the minds of most people income is related to the hours of work done. Well and good, but there is a limit on the number of hours one can work and there is also a limit on what the market can bear in the way of salaries.The answer of course is to have an extra source of income. Writing is a good example. It costs nothing to write a book except time. Mind you, the chance of actually making any money is slight.

The Ideal Business

Another way is to start a business. How should we define what today is the ideal business?If the person concerned wishes to start a business to earn extra income he certainly doesn't want to lose a lot of money. Neither does he want to add the stresses and strains of corporate management.

Let us take a group of men and women for example. It is always better to work with like mi! nded people. So our future businessman or woman should look ar! ound him for positive minded people with the same ideas. One is usually surrounded by people with negative ideas and negative advice. I believe the word now used is to create synergy.

Convinced today that the need is to have multiple mini enterprises connected in a global strategy with a common aim they would join with a powerful multi-national. Why? Because they do not want to be involved in the production, stock, research, shipping and the myriad of other tasks that are in! volved in marketing that have to be done. Somebody has to do it certainly. That though should not be the job of the small start up business. There could be other ways, but that is the least complicated choice. The difficulty is to find the reliable company with the perfect track record, the unique product and the ability to pay one for the results obtained. Five or six intelligent people with much past experience can do this. The corporation will therefore be responsible for the creation, development and worldwide distribution of the products concerned. The French group develops business contacts that in their turn create the markets in their respective countries.

Log on to your Squidoo account and go to your dashboard, while you are on you! r dashboard have a look at moving some of the modules around, especially if a new module looks more interesting. Remember the 10-second rule - you need to hold a visitor's attention for those crucial 10 seconds.

Step 3 : Find RSS Module.

Go to the section with "re-order modules" and add the RSS module to your lens, if the RSS module is not displayed in any of the categories, you can just enter in the words and do a search, you will then be able to see it.

Once this has been ordered you can just drag and drop the module into the correct space on your Lens

Step 4 : Give Your RSS Module a name.

The Module will now be ready to be edited with your own information.
Give your RSS a module a title, like your Blogs name etc

Give your module a subtitle (optional) you can add anything here, have a look what it looks like, you can always go back and edit it again.

Give your module a description (optional) again you can b! e creative, if you don't like what you have entered, just dele! te it la ter on.

Now it is time to enter the RSS feed URL that you got in step 1.

There are a few other options that you can add, play around and see what suits you.

Another great option that you can add to your lens that will give you not only fresh content, but also some extra money, is to add a Clickbank Feed to your Lens

This is also a very simple task,

Step 1 : Go to RSS Feeds Generator.

Go to rssfeedsgenerator.com, there are a few various options like Amazon, eBay etc, look for the Clickbank Feed.

As this is the free version you are limited to two categories only, choose the category that will best suit your lens.

Enter your keywords, Clickbank ID, name and email address and press generate, after you complete all the required fields, you will be taken to the page with the RSS Feed URL.

Step 2 : Add Feed to Lens.

Now all that you have to do is enter the Clickbank Feed URL on to a new Squidoo RSS ! module like before.

Now that only will you be able to make your lens more interesting, you will also be updating it automatically with fresh content from your Blog.

By doing this you won't be able to help but to increase your overall profits simply because you will only be selling the hottest items.

So let's get started with this free method.You will need to open a spreadsheet like Excel or whatever program came with your computer. Go ahead and name it what ever you want and you will want to put the name of the seller that you are going to be researching at the top of the spreadsheet for your own reference.Next, you are going to name 5 columns.

The first will be 'Item Description' the second one will b! e 'Starting Price' the third one will be 'Ending Price' and the fourth one will be 'Shipping' and the 5th one will be 'Shipping Method'. Now you can add more detail if you want such as if the item sold was at a fixed price or if it was bid on, but you really only need the 5 I've mentioned.Now go to whatever auction site you use and either type in the sellers name or the type of item you are interested in selling.

If you are going to use the sellers name then you want to make sure that the person is a seller with at least 2000 feedback comments and a 98-100% positive feedback rating. If they are missing either of these 2 criteria then you will want to find someone in the same category that has these. This is extremely important. If you are going to use an item to research the niche just make sure that when you find a seller that they also have what is mentioned above.

Next is a whole bunch of copying and pasting.When you find a qualified seller, click on thei! r feedback. In most cases it will show you to the feedback com! ments an d you'll be able to see what the item was and exactly what it sold for. Copy and paste the items as well as the numbers into your spreadsheet in the appropriate columns.

After you do this, then click on the item and see what the shipping cost was and put this into your spreadsheet. Click on the bids and see what the starting bid was and add this to your spreadsheet as well.

NOTE: Some sellers keep their auctions private and you may not see this information. If this is the case simply find another seller.

-Highlight the item that was sold and then copy it into your spreadsheet. The other information like the starting price you can just type in from memory as this will probably be faster for you (it is for me).

TIP: Press down the Alt key and then the Tab key to flip back and forth between the auction site and your spreadsheet. To Copy faster: Press down the Ctrl key and the letter 'C' after you have highlighted what you are copying. To Paste faste! r: Press down the Ctrl key and the letter 'V'. These key commands make everything a lot faster.

If it requires you to calculate shipping do it this way. Type in zip code 33040 (Key West, Florida and make note of that number. Then type in 98357 (Neah Bay, Washington) and make note of that number and put these into your spreadsheet. If the 2 shipping costs are different then just add them to your spreadsheet column like this: 13.95 - 19.00.

These 2 locations are the farthest southeast and the farthest northwest locations in the United States and will give you the exact shipping information you need to know since your competitor has already done this work for you (as long as you're selling the exact same item).Be sure to make note of their shipping method and see if they mail by the United States Post Office or UPS, FedEx etc.....

Now you have the 5 basic things you need to know to compete with your competitor. You will now need to gather a large amount o! f data to see what the trend is and what is selling best for y! our comp etitor. You will want to go through all of the feedback for the last 90 days (no matter how many pages that is) and copy and paste all of the information into your spreadsheet.

I know it is a lot of work because I have done it, but keep in mind that you will only need to do it once and when you get the system down you can do about 50 item listings in about 5-6 minutes.Once you have the items sold information for the last 90 days then you will simply sort your spreadsheet in this order:AlphabeticallySold PriceStart PriceDon't worry about the sorting the shipping cost as this is just information that you need to set up your auction.

You can now look at your spreadsheet and see what is selling best for the competitor, exactly what it sold for, what your starting price should be, and what you should charge for shipping. In short you have everything you need to start selling.

Taking Charge With An Online Home Business
I still remember the day I decided that I wanted to start making money over the Internet. I used to work at a warehouse, and to put it simply, I hated it. As much as I didn't want to admit it, the truth was that I felt I was being underpaid. I put in my best effort to help the company I was working for, only to come to the realization that I really meant nothing to them if I wasn't helping them with their "bottom line." The result - I was "laid off." In other words, fired - but of course, the company I was working for didn't want to admit that for the simple reason they couldn't come up with a good enough reason to fire me. That was it - I was fed up!

That experience alone made me realize that I no longer wanted to work for someone else - I wanted to work for myself! Upon coming to this realization, I then turned to the Internet. I have to admit though, it wasn't easy coming to that decision - and there was a reason too. Ta! ke a wild guess as to what that reason might have been? The answer: Unconventionality. Let me explain a little further as to what I mean about that "concept."

It seems that throughout our life, we're almost brainwashed into thinking that the only way we can make money is by working at a typical 9 to 5 job. You wake up, hop in your car, drive to that "physical building" and start doing the tasks that were given to you by other people. We're used to this kind of environment - this kind of thinking. So in many ways, it almost feels like a "natural" thing to do.

On the other hand, when you look at the Internet and starting your own business using the Internet, your reaction may be a lot different. One of those reasons, at least for me at the beginning, was because it's something new. Your not used to seeing things like this growing up, so deciding to do so was quite nerve-racking. The idea of making money over the Internet was something that was unorthodox. Th! oughts like, "I can't do this, this is impossible" ran through! my head .

Now, because working over the Internet is something that was entirely new to me, and goes completely against the "norm", it would almost seem like those reactions would come naturally. But the fact is, don't think like that! Look at it this way - at one point in time, your typical 9 to 5 job never used to exist. As soon as they did, those too were seen as unorthodox ventures to make money. If you look at it now, it's no big deal. I had people from all around me telling me "this wasn't the way to go" - that I should look for and stick to working at a typical 9 to 5 job. My guess to that was because they simply wanted me to have what they had - for no other reason that it was a "proven" way to make money, albeit maybe not as much as I would have liked.

The fact though is that I don't want what they have - I want to do what I want to do! You see what I'm saying? Take charge of your life! Before I began doing anything online, this was, by far, the biggest hurdle ! to overcome. Coming to the realization that yes, I can do this - and yes, making money over the Internet is a possibility. I'm here to tell you that it is a possibility - but me telling you that isn't enough. You need to go out there and prove it for yourself. I think that "proving it for yourself" is almost a necessary first-step.

If possible, try and find like-minded people that may be interested in taking this venture with you. Of course, if you can't, that's fine too. There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing this alone. In fact, as a result of taking charge, you may actually inspire many people around you. By doing this, you may also have many potential partners for the simple reason that you showed them it can be done. On that note, what are you waiting for? Get out there and start making money!
